If you've been wondering where Aza Comics has been, I want to start by saying thank you. Thank you for remembering these characters, for supporting this universe, and for giving it a place in your life.

It's been three years since Aza was consistently sharing new work. That's a long time, so I want to tell you what I've been doing, and why I'm so excited to say this: Aza Comics is back in production, and our new website is live.

What I've been building

During this hiatus, I've been investing in my development as a writer and visual storyteller. I've been learning, practicing, and expanding into 3D art and animation, building the skills to bring more of the Aza universe to life.

That has meant studying how characters move and express emotion, how environments tell stories, and how lighting and composition can change the way a scene feels. It has meant working through the technical side of creating cinematic images, as well as the creative decisions that give those images meaning.

There is a lot of learning behind a single finished scene. There's experimentation, revision, and the moment you realize something needs another pass before it feels right. I've been giving myself the time to do that work. But now I can proudly call myself an author and a cinematic 3D artist.

Character tests: skin, light, and the tech that lives under it.

My vision for Aza has continued to grow. I want you to feel the scale of these worlds, the tension of a confrontation, and the connection between these characters. Developing my craft is part of making that possible.

Bringing a cinematic approach to the books

As I move forward, 3D art will play a larger role in the cinematic images I create for Aza's books. I'm approaching those scenes with attention to performance, framing, lighting, and atmosphere: the decisions that help an image carry a story.

I'm also developing my animation skills and preparing for the longer-term possibility of bringing Aza to television and film. That is a direction I'm working toward, and I'll share specific projects and milestones when they're ready to be announced.

The books remain at the heart of this universe. Everything I'm learning gives me more ways to explore the characters and the worlds around them.

My commitment to the stories and artwork

As I share this new work, I want to be clear about how it's made:

I will not use generative AI to write Aza's books or to generate the cinematic images for those books.

I write The Keepers, and every Aza book is written by actual people. I create the cinematic images through my 3D art process, making the creative decisions behind the characters, scenes, lighting, and composition. As production continues, I look forward to sharing more of that process with you.

This commitment matters to me because developing my craft is part of why I create. It's my self-expression, and part of what keeps me sane as a human being. Could I make this with AI? Yes. But the joy is in the process of creating it, and that took me a long time to understand.

I'll be honest: I was worried about my industry and my future as an artist and a writer because of AI. But now I understand that it's not about whether a machine can do it faster or better. It's about whether you enjoy the process. The late-night writing inspiration, obsessing over the clothing on a 3D model, color grading the final image to give it that cinematic feel... I love doing it all, and I love sharing what I've learned with others.

I love film. I love cinematic storytelling. And I hope you're ready to ride this ride with me.

What comes next

Over the next couple of years, my focus is on developing new Aza stories, expanding the cinematic artwork, exploring richer reading experiences, and continuing to build toward animation, TV, and film.

I'll also be sharing more from the studio: works in progress, character details, creative decisions, and the learning that continues along the way. I'll announce release dates when the work reaches the stage where I can commit to them.

I'm also going to give more to the fans. Expanding the lore of Aza beyond the books is something I've always wanted to do, and you'll get that through the Aza Substack. I'll share as I create.

For now, the new website is your invitation to step back into the Aza universe, or to discover it for the first time. Explore azacomics.shop, play the games in the Aza Arcade, and read transmissions straight from the Aza universe.

To everyone who has supported Aza: thank you for being part of its story. I'm excited to share this next chapter with you.
